With four kiddos and countless sports and activities, we are bound to pick up germs and ickies from somewhere! So I wanted to see how hard it would be to make our own Cold Vapor Rub using essential oils! And to see if it would be cost effective as well! Here's what you need:
1. Place a glass bowl on top of a saucepan (partially fill saucepan with water over medium heat). Add the coconut oil and beeswax pellets to glass bowl. Melt.
Once melted, carefully remove the bowl from the heat. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes. This will allow the mixture to cool so the oils aren't damaged.
After 5 minutes, add the oils to the coconut oil mixture. Combine with a spoon.
Pour the mixture into a glass jar. I use a cosmetic jar. This recipe will make two 2 oz. jar of vapor rub. As the mixture cools the liquid will solidify, making it a creamy, spreadable rub. I like to put my mixture in the fridge or freezer for 30 minutes because I'm super impatient in waiting for it to solidify!
Note: I had to play with the recipe a little bit to make it the consistency I wanted! But I love it!
